Call for Artists

PLEASE NOTE: This section is not for poets looking to read at the festival. If you are hoping to read at the festival, please contact an organization with which you are affiliated about hosting a reading at the event, or sign up for the open mic on site. This section is for visual, installation, and interactive artists. Also, the New York City Poetry Festival is an all-outdoor event with limited access to electricity and running water. Please keep this in mind when creating your proposals.

The Poetry Society of New York will once again inhabit the sunny triangle of grass known as Colonel’s Row on Governors Island this July. We are calling on the visual, installation, and interactive artists of New York City to help us enrich the environs of this year’s festival with a series of site-specific installations. The installations can be poetry-inspired or “poetic,” but they do not have to be. We want to be delighted by you. We love shiny things. Past installations have included The Homespun Merry Go-Round, The Poetry Brothel, The Typewriter Project, and more. Help us make this year’s New York City Poetry Festival a feast for the mind and senses. Submit your proposal by July 1st, 2017.
